SUMMARY:CNBC Africa Interview: U.S.-Africa trade in a post-AGOA world
DESCRIPTION:U.S.-Africa trade in a post-AGOA world\nThe 30th of September 2025 – that’s the day the African Growth and Opportunity Act expired. African nations that were under AGOA\, can no longer export goods to the United States\, duty-free. And now those countries are grappling with tariffs\, imposed by the US\, on their exports. What does life looking like and what should it look like\, after AGOA? Joining CNBC Africa for more is William Fanjoy\, VP of Trade for the US-Africa Trade Desk.\nFri\, 14 Nov 2025 15:24:00 GMT\n \n \n \nSee video here: https://videocdn.cnbc.africa/hls/7763132517256/output.m3u8 \nor Visit: https://www.cnbcafrica.com/media/7763132517256/us-africa-trade-in-a-post-agoa-world\n \n

SUMMARY:Starting 2026 with strong momentum - West Africa Site Visits
DESCRIPTION:The U.S.-Africa Trade Desk (USATD) is starting 2026 with strong momentum. In the coming days\, our team will be on the ground in West Africa\, conducting a series of business and supply-chain site visits as part of our broader engagement across priority export markets. These visits mark an important early-year focus for USATD\, centered on gaining first-hand insight into production capacity\, quality systems\, logistics readiness\, and the operational realities that underpin successful trade with the United States. By engaging directly with businesses at origin\, USATD strengthens its understanding of how African suppliers across multiple sectors are positioning themselves to meet U.S. market expectations. \n Beginning the year in the field reflects USATD’s practical\, market-driven approach to trade facilitation. On-site engagement allows for deeper dialogue around scalability\, compliance\, value-addition\, and long-term commercial alignment — all essential elements of resilient and competitive supply chains. As discussions evolve\, additional meetings and engagements may take place\, reflecting the dynamic nature of trade development and opportunity identification. \n Throughout the visit\, USATD will be sharing insights and observations from the field\, highlighting the diversity\, capability\, and ambition of West African businesses contributing to U.S.–Africa trade flows.

SUMMARY:Cashew Processing Facility Visit – Benin
DESCRIPTION:USATD continued its on-the-ground engagements in Benin with a visit to a cashew processing facility operating within established international supply chains. \nThe facility focuses on primary cashew processing at origin\, including deshelling\, with shelled kernels prepared for export. Roasting and final processing are completed in the United States\, reflecting a value chain where different stages of production take place across markets. \nDuring the visit\, the USATD team met with company leadership to discuss operations\, export experience\, and the facility’s role within regional and global trade flows. The engagement offered insight into how established processors in West Africa structure their activities and support consistent supply to international markets. \n  \nUSATD will continue sharing updates from the field as site visits and meetings take place across the region.

SUMMARY:USATD at The Good Life Show\, Africa
DESCRIPTION:Frances Fraser\, our Director of Continental Services\, joined Solina Moodley’s butter chicken masterclass — bringing a trade lens to a room full of flavor. U.S. consumers are leaning into international profiles. Africa has the spices\, the aromatics\, and the origin stories. \nThe opportunity is in connecting the two. SUMMARY:From the Show Floor at IDDBA 2026
DESCRIPTION:We were in Orlando this week for IDDBA 2026 — walking the floor\, tasting everything in sight\, and taking notes on where the dairy\, deli\, and bakery space is headed. \n \nA few things that stood out:\nClean ingredients are taking center stage. Shorter ingredient lists\, whole foods\, and products free of preservatives were some of the most talked-about innovations on the floor this year. Consumers are reading labels more than ever\, and brands that can deliver simplicity without sacrificing quality are winning. \nProtein is not a trend\, it’s the expectation. Consumers want something that tastes good and works for them\, and the industry is catching up fast across dairy and deli. \nCheese is having a serious moment. Specialty cheese was everywhere\, and the charcuterie wave is still going strong; mozzarella\, parmesan\, and specialty varieties are all part of the conversation right now. \nIf you’re a producer or supplier in dairy\, deli\, or specialty foods\, the demand is there — and we know how to get you in front of it. Let’s talk.

SUMMARY:The Fancy Food Show\, New York 2026
DESCRIPTION:From these “promiscuous palates” to the push for wider non‑dairy choices and whole foods with more recognizable ingredient lists\, the mood at this year’s Summer Fancy Food Show was all about adventurous taste and transparency. \nAfrican producers are already answering that call with distinctive sauces\, spices\, nut‑based snacks\, and innovative plant‑forward products. While U.S. brands bring their own strengths in specialty processing\, packaging\, and distribution. \nAs the U.S. Africa Trade Desk\, we help turn this shared momentum into market wins—linking African and U.S. partners\, supporting two‑way sourcing\, and building food trade that flows in both directions to grow categories\, margins\, and consumer choice on each side of the Atlantic. If you’re ready to tap into these trends and explore new cross‑continent partnerships\, our team is here to help you move from inspiration to contracts.

SUMMARY:Nairobi\, here we come!
DESCRIPTION:The U.S.-Africa Trade Desk is excited to be co-exhibiting with MCT Midlands Commodity Trading Company at AFEC 2026\, taking place from 15–16 July at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi. This marks USATD’s first time participating in the Africa Feed Exhibition and Conference\, and we are pleased to join one of the region’s important platforms for advancing the animal feed and livestock sectors. \nAFEC 2026 will bring together feed manufacturers\, producers\, commodity suppliers\, nutrition specialists\, technology providers and industry partners to exchange knowledge\, explore new solutions and build the commercial relationships needed to support a more productive and sustainable regional feed industry. \nOver the two days\, the USATD and MCT teams will engage with businesses from across Kenya and the wider East African market to better understand regional sourcing requirements\, identify supply gaps and explore where reliable U.S. agricultural commodities\, technologies and expertise can respond to African market demand. \nOur work is focused on moving beyond trade discussions and converting market interest into bankable transactions that increase U.S. agricultural exports\, strengthen African agricultural\, manufacturing and livestock value chains\, and create meaningful economic opportunities on both continents. \nAttending AFEC 2026? Visit us at the MCT Midlands Commodity Trading Company stand to meet the team and discuss how we can work together to build new supply relationships and move practical trade opportunities forward. \nWe look forward to two productive days of conversations\, connections and commercial engagement in Nairobi. \n  \n

SUMMARY:US Africa Trade Desk is heading to Atlanta for the NBL
DESCRIPTION:From August 19 – 22\, we’ll be at the 126th National Business League (NBL) Annual Conference\, hosted by the National Alliance for Black Business (NABB) – a coalition uniting NBL\, the World Conference of Mayors\, the National Black Chamber of Commerce\, and other leading Black business institutions. This year’s theme\, “The Book of AI™: Booker T. Washington and the Sacred Codes to Economic Sovereignty\,” puts capital access\, procurement\, and enterprise ownership at the center of the conversation. \nFor us\, that conversation connects directly to the work we do across the Atlantic. Building durable\, vertically integrated U.S.-Africa trade corridors is\, at its core\, a question of who captures value in a supply chain – and that question matters as much for Black-owned businesses here in the U.S. as it does for African producers and manufacturers. We’re looking forward to sharing what we’ve learned about deal structuring\, trade finance\, and traceable supply chains\, and to learning from the leaders building economic sovereignty here at home. \nIf you’re attending the NBL Conference in Atlanta\, we’d love to connect – come find our team. \n#NBLConference #BlackBusiness #EconomicSovereignty #USAfricaTrade #NABB2026

SUMMARY:Global Africa Summit Charlotte 2026
DESCRIPTION:U.S. Africa Trade Desk will be participating as panelists at the Global Africa Summit Charlotte 2026 (GAS Charlotte)\, taking place September 8–10\, 2026 at the Westin Charlotte in Charlotte\, North Carolina. The summit\, hosted by the Africa Investment Network in partnership with Intentional Asset Management\, Black Wall Street Charlotte\, and the GABA Center\, will convene more than 300 investors\, policymakers\, business leaders\, and entrepreneurs from across Africa\, North America\, the Caribbean\, and global markets. \nIn addition to strategic meetings with North Carolina state officials and farmers\, USATD will bring two voices to the summit’s stage. Director of Government Affairs Jeremy Faber will join the panel “Scaling the Carolinas: Enterprise\, Global Markets and the Africa Advantage.” VP of Transformative Apparel Clinton White will join “Money Without Borders: Building Wealth Across the Diaspora Divide.” Panel schedules will be confirmed closer to the event. \nThis year’s theme\, “Beyond Partnerships: Trade\, Investment & Private Capital as Tools of Global Resilience\,” centers on producing measurable outcomes — new trade corridors\, capital commitments\, and enterprise partnerships between Africa and the world\, closely aligned with USATD’s own work building vertically integrated trade corridors across apparel\, agriculture\, and trade finance. \nProgramming across the three-day summit spans sector panels in agribusiness\, technology\, finance\, infrastructure\, and more\, along with B2B/B2G matchmaking and a live Deal Room.

SUMMARY:US Africa Trade Desk at the AmCham Business Summit 2026: Advancing Mutual Prosperity
DESCRIPTION:US Africa Trade Desk will be represented at the AmCham Business Summit 2026\, taking place September 9–10\, 2026 at the Windsor Golf Hotel in Nairobi\, Kenya. Our Director of International Operations\, Jeanah Lacey\, will join the Summit on September 9. \nThe AmCham Business Summit is East Africa’s leading platform for U.S.–East Africa trade and investment\, co-convened by the American Chamber of Commerce\, Kenya and the U.S. Embassy in Kenya\, and co-hosted with the Government of Kenya through the Ministry of Investments\, Trade and Industry. Regional partners include the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and American Chambers of Commerce from Uganda\, Tanzania\, Rwanda\, and Ethiopia. Now in its fifth year\, the Summit brings together business leaders\, policymakers\, investors\, and innovators from across East Africa and the United States to advance two-way trade and investment across market access\, financing\, innovation\, and policy frameworks spanning seven high-growth sectors\, including agriculture\, manufacturing\, digital economy\, health\, infrastructure\, energy\, and critical supply chains. \nThis year’s Summit convenes under the theme “Advancing Mutual Prosperity Through Trade & Investment\,” held as the United States marks 250 years of independence. The program looks at what that milestone means for the next chapter of American enterprise abroad — anchored in U.S. innovation\, reciprocal partnership\, and global leadership\, with dedicated tracks for business-to-government engagement and facilitated business-to-business matchmaking between U.S. and East African companies. \nJeanah will join a discussion on how AfCFTA implementation can unlock commercial opportunity and long-term U.S. investment in Africa’s regional value chains. As she puts it: “Companies don’t invest in trade rules. They invest in the opportunities those rules make commercially possible.” Her participation reflects the work US Africa Trade Desk does every day: category management\, trade deal structuring\, and financing that build durable\, vertically integrated trade corridors between the U.S. and African markets across apparel\, agriculture\, and trade finance. For USATD\, AfCFTA implementation isn’t an abstract policy milestone — it’s a framework that\, done well\, translates into the kind of commercial fundamentals that make regional value chains investable at scale. \nMutual prosperity\, in our view\, is not a slogan — it’s a function of trade structured so that capital\, capacity\, and commercial value move together on both sides of the relationship. That’s the conversation Jeanah looks forward to having in Nairobi. \n

SUMMARY:US Africa Trade Desk Returns to Good Life Show — This Time in Johannesburg
DESCRIPTION:From 18–20 September\, our team joins Good Life Show’s Hosted Buyer Programme at the Sandton Convention Centre\, connecting African producers with international and regional buyers actively sourcing their products. \nWe’re excited to be back with Good Life Show\, this time as the event makes its move to Johannesburg. From 18–20 September\, the show brings more than 250 African food\, beverage\, and wellness brands to the Sandton Convention Centre through its Hosted Buyer Programme — an initiative built around a targeted matchmaking process\, where buyers’ sourcing requirements are assessed in advance and paired with exhibitors whose products and capabilities align with what they’re actually looking for. \nUS Africa Trade Desk will attend for the full three days\, represented by Frances Fraser\, our Director of Continental Services\, Martin Lombard\, our Director of Integration\, and Sue-Anne Mackway-Wilson\, our Director of Marketing. We’re there to see the matchmaking model in practice: how sourcing requirements are matched against exhibitor capabilities\, which categories are drawing the strongest buyer interest\, and where international demand for African-origin products is heading next. \nThe categories on show track closely with where that demand is concentrated. Distinctive African ingredients — baobab\, fonio\, Nilotica shea butter\, and botanical beverages like hibiscus\, rooibos\, and honeybush — are drawing growing international interest as demand rises for natural\, clean-label\, and functional products. There’s opportunity in more established export categories too\, with processed fruit\, vegetables\, and edible nuts continuing to offer strong openings for African suppliers. \nA compelling product is only the first part of the conversation. International buyers are also weighing consistent quality\, reliable supply\, traceability\, food safety\, appropriate certification\, sufficient shelf life\, export-ready packaging\, and the ability to meet volume requirements — the practical considerations that determine whether a sourcing conversation turns into a lasting supplier relationship. As Heidi Warricker of Live Events has put it\, the programme is “about creating those connections” between producers with a genuine product and buyers with a genuine interest in it. The initiative is delivered in partnership with Ndarama Works\, the show’s official B2B Global Trade Engine\, whose COO Precious Mahove has pointed to “increasing interest in African-origin products” that combine sustainability\, authenticity\, and strong supply potential. \nThat framing sits close to how we build our own trade corridors. A matched\, qualified buyer requirement — not a hope that supply will find its own market — is what turns a product with export potential into a program that actually ships. Watching that principle play out at scale\, across dozens of exhibitors and buyer delegations in one room\, is exactly the kind of ground-level insight we look for at events like this one.

SUMMARY:IFPA Global Produce & Floral Show in Orlando
DESCRIPTION:We’re on the expo floor this week\, meeting growers\, importers and retail buyers working on U.S.–Africa fresh produce and floral trade. \n This week\, US Africa Trade Desk is at the IFPA Global Produce & Floral Show at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando\, Florida. The expo floor runs October 15–16\, and the show brings together growers\, shippers\, importers\, retailers and service providers from across the global fresh produce and floral supply chain. \nOver the two days\, our team is meeting U.S. buyers and supply chain partners to understand category requirements\, sourcing gaps and seasonal windows where African supply can respond to U.S. demand. \nAfrican growers already supply fresh produce and floral product to markets around the world. Building consistent access to U.S. retail depends on getting the structure right: traceability from farm to shelf\, compliance with U.S. import and food safety requirements\, reliable cold-chain logistics\, and commercial agreements that hold from one season to the next. That structure is where our work is focused. \nTrade shows like IFPA give us something a spreadsheet can’t: direct conversations with the buyers who decide what reaches the shelf. We’re here in Orlando to listen and to identify where demand is real\, so we can build supply programs backwards from it. That’s how durable trade corridors begin. \nAbout IFPA: The International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA) represents companies across the fresh produce and floral supply chain worldwide. It hosts the annual Global Produce & Floral Show.
